FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What is the actual season for this age group?
This varies based by team...but most teams play fall, winter, and spring, but this ultimately becomes the discretion of the coach and player.

What is the weekly time commitment?
Typically teams train twice per week and play one day per weekend in the fall...winter is typically 1 day per week...and then spring is typically 1 training session and 1 weekend day.  The club season begins in mid July as teams start practicing for the fall league season, which runs from September through mid November.

Is there travel beyond Balto./Harford County to play?
Potentially yes...Many of our teams play in the Central Maryland Soccer Association league and travel to all parts of the Maryland area; mainly Baltimore, Harford and Carroll Counties.  However, there are other leagues in which our teams may decide to play, which will also require some travel.  Our teams do also play in various tournaments, which also may require travel.

What is the cost beyond uniforms & team fees?
Each player's financial commitment is comprised of 2 parts; club dues and team fees. Our club dues are approximately $150-175 or the year. Team fees vary by team.  A typical team that plays a fall session of one league and one or two tournaments will be in the range of $400 to $500, which includes the uniform kit cost of approximately $150.  A more active team, or a team that plays year round will have a higher team fee of course.  But you can rest assured that our fees are some of the lowest you'll find, which is one of our main goals in order to bring soccer to more kids in our community.

How many teams do you usually field?
Each age group varies and some age groups have multiple teams. Our goal is to have at least one team for each single age year.

CLUB COACHES
Our coaches are required to have a recognized soccer coaching license. Some of our coaches have national and/or advanced national licenses with United Soccer Coaches and we encourage our coaches to advance their licenses. In many cases, the club will assist in supporting that activity to the best of its abilities. NESC embraces a coaches code of conduct (link). Each and every coach, including assistants, must comply with the code. Violations of the code are reviewed by a club committee for appropriate action.

NEW INCOMING TEAMS/COACHES
Coaches that are joining NESC for the first time, whether it be during a wholesale team transfer into our club or being assigned to an existing team, must be approved by the NESC Executive Board.  Incoming coaches must either already have a recognized coaching license or commit to acquiring one within their first year with NESC.

New coaches are subject to the following as part of the on-boarding process:
· Completion of a new coach questionnaire to understand coaching philosophy, goals and character
· A background check (processed by our local rec council)
· A review by the NESC Executive Board, which could include one or more in-person interviews

· Ultimate NESC Executive Board approval (majority vote)

NOTE: The process above is intended mainly for “head” coaches; however, the NESC Executive Board reserves the right to impose this process onto any new incoming assistant coach as they see fit or appropriate
